Heritage homes in Port Hope
Port Hope has one of the best-preserved 19th century downtowns in Ontario and many heritage houses on its residential streets. These buildings have brick, stone and lime plaster walls. Limewash Paint and Venetian Plaster are traditional lime finishes that suit them, and both breathe so moisture can leave the wall.
Lime finishes for heritage walls
Modern acrylic paint can trap moisture in old masonry and plaster. Limewash is vapour-open, bonds with the wall and can be refreshed over the years without stripping. Matte Marmorino can even out a plaster wall while keeping a hand-made surface.
