Lime finishes for Hamilton's older houses
Hamilton has one of the largest stocks of older homes in the region: Victorian and Edwardian houses in Durand, Kirkendall, Corktown and Strathcona, 1920s and 30s homes in Westdale, and stone houses in Dundas and Ancaster. Many still have original plaster walls. Limewash Paint and Venetian Plaster are lime-based and suit these walls because they breathe and move with the house.
Restoring plaster walls
Before any finish goes on, we repair cracks, re-attach loose plaster and fill gaps. Then we choose Limewash for soft colour, or Marmorino for a matte, stone-like surface. Both can be repaired locally later.
