Plasterer in Toronto: Venetian Plaster, Marmorino & Microcement
ARTELIME is a plasterer in Toronto for Venetian Plaster, Marmorino, Grassello, lime plaster and Microcement. Hand-applied in homes and businesses across the GTA.
Most people who call a plasterer in Toronto today are not fixing a hole in the drywall. They want a wall that looks like stone. That is what we do. ARTELIME is a plasterer in Toronto for decorative plaster: Venetian Plaster, Marmorino, Grassello, lime plaster and Microcement.
Below are the plastering services we offer, with what each one is good for.
Venetian Plaster Installation
Venetian plaster is lime putty and marble dust. We trowel it on in two to four very thin coats and polish it by hand. The result has real depth, and it changes as the light moves through the day. Before we start, we fix cracks, level the wall and make samples in your room so you can see the colour in your own light.
Venetian Plaster Feature Walls & Fireplaces
A feature wall is the most popular job. Behind a sofa, around a fireplace, on a chimney breast or up a two-storey foyer. A single wall is enough to change a room, and it costs much less than plastering the whole space.
Venetian Plaster Walls & Ceilings
Some clients go further and plaster whole rooms, hallways, stairwells or ceilings. Lime plaster lets the wall breathe and resists mould. That makes it a good fit for older homes in The Annex, Cabbagetown and Leaside, where original plaster walls move with the seasons.
Polished Venetian Plaster (Grassello)
Grassello is aged lime putty that polishes to a high gloss, close to polished marble. It is the most formal look we make. It works best in powder rooms, dining rooms and foyers.
Marmorino Plaster
Marmorino is the matte, softly textured version of Venetian plaster. Think of travertine. It is calm, hides small marks and suits bedrooms, hallways and full rooms.
Lime Plaster Finishes
For walls that need to breathe, such as older brick or original plaster, we use lime plaster finishes in matte, textured or polished looks. They are low in VOCs and safe for bedrooms and nurseries.
Venetian Plaster Repair
Lime plaster can be repaired in place. Scratches, small cracks and water marks are filled, burnished and re-waxed so they blend into the wall.
Microcement Installation
Microcement is a cement-based plaster about 2 to 3 mm thick. It covers floors, walls, stairs and furniture with no grout lines. We prime the base, apply mesh-reinforced base coats, then finish coats and a sealer.
Microcement Bathrooms, Showers & Tub Surrounds
This is where microcement shines. One finish runs across the floor, up the shower walls and around the tub. In wet areas it goes over a waterproofing membrane and a shower-rated sealer.
Microcement Over Existing Tile
If your tile is firmly bonded, we can go straight over it. That means no demolition, less dust and a much shorter project. It is a common choice in condos, where noise and elevator bookings are a problem.
Microcement Walls & Feature Walls
A microcement wall gives a calm, concrete look in matte or satin, for living rooms, bedrooms and offices.
Microcement Kitchens, Islands & Range Hoods
Islands, hoods, backsplashes and floors can all share one finish, sealed for water, oil and daily cleaning.
Commercial Venetian Plaster & Microcement
Restaurants, shops, salons, clinics and hotels use Venetian plaster on reception and feature walls, and microcement on floors, bars and counters.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does a decorative plasterer do?
A decorative plasterer applies finishes like Venetian plaster, Marmorino and microcement by hand, instead of plain drywall compound. The goal is a wall or floor that looks like stone or concrete and lasts for years.
How much does Venetian plaster cost in Toronto?
It depends on the wall size, condition and finish. Venetian plaster costs more than limewash because it needs more coats and drying time. We give a written quote after the free consultation.
Can you plaster over painted drywall?
Yes. Painted drywall is repaired and primed with a compatible primer first. Most Toronto homes have painted drywall, and it is a good base for Venetian plaster.
Do you do commercial plastering?
Yes. We apply Venetian plaster and microcement in restaurants, shops, salons, clinics, offices and hotels across Toronto and the GTA.
